Match Report – Wargrave Pythons 10/09/2016 3-1
Our first regular Saturday morning game, was once again a magnificent performance.
A strong start and the girls were passing the ball well and dominating the game.
A momentary lapse of concentration in defense and some indecision, meant that somehow after 10 minutes we were 1-0 down. This didn’t phase the girls and soon after Holly leveled the scores.
1-1 a half time, and Evie volunteered to go in goal, little was she to know that she was going to have a long rest! as the ball didn’t go anywhere near her in the second half,
Amy ran her socks off the entire game, allowing Holly the room to score our equalizer, then 10 minutes from the end, super sub Ebony toe poked another form 12 yards!!
All the girls played brilliantly, a well deserved victory.
3rd September Oxford Ladies tournament.
Our first matches of the the new season, the Oxford United ladies sister club tournament saw the girls really showing that the training is paying off. Against a mixed opposition including our own U9 team, the girls holding of formation and passing was fantastic.
First up were Quarry Rovers, who we have played before. To watch our first few minutes compared to our fir
st game a year ago, was magnificent. Patient passing, great movement and an easy 3-0 victory.
Next up were our under 9 team, we took our foot off the pedal in the game, and just won a tight match 2-1. Lily-may scoring for the under 8’s and then almost equalising near the end.
We then played a young Hendred and Harwell team who were playing in their first tournament. Back to our play from the first game, and an easy 5-0 victory.
Finally we played Cumnor In a battle of the two unbeaten teams. A very tight match where Thatcham and Newbury dominated but didn’t really create many chances. Whereas Cumnor had two or three breaks and only Felicitys fantastic goalkeeping kept the scores at 0-0. Once again our shape and passing were brilliant. We now play Cumnor again in a final match which will be played before an Oxford Ladies WSL match at Abingdon town.
Well done girls!
